The differences of Incremental encoder and Absolute encoder

1) The incremental encoder outputs a pulse signal, while the absolute encoder outputs a set of binary values;
2) Incremental encoders do not have power-off hold function, while absolute encoders can save data after power-off;
3) The number of revolutions of the incremental encoder is not limited, while the absolute encoder cannot exceed the range of the number of revolutions;
4) Incremental encoders are relatively cheap;

The structure of Incremental encoder

• Code disc （Incremental count track + direction track）
• Sensitive components (The sensitive element of the incremental encoder is generally a contact brush or a non-contact photoelectric system or a magnetoelectric system, which is compatible with the code disc.)
• counter （The incremental encoder calculates the increment of angular displacement. In order to calculate the actual size and direction of angular displacement relative to a certain reference position, a counter must be set）
